![]() It has a higher strength vacuum of 12 where elvie only goes to I believe 7. It's definitely helpful in moments like going to an appointment or when you're in a pinch. I will say I don't get as much milk from my elvie and don't use it as much as I had hoped. I ended up getting the elvie because I wanted to be hands free and was getting ready to return to work. My insurance paid for the spectra and I really wish I got the s1 as it's portable. It has a vibration that I find to be essential, the charge lasts a few days, and when traveling I frequently bring it instead of my GA. Personally, though, I’m all about the S1, which is cumbersome but cordless. ![]() I have no personal experience with wearables, but the Imani and Momcozy are popular and inexpensive. The most popular portables lately seem to be the Pumpables Genie Advanced, which has a strong but gentle suction, and the Baby Buddha, which I find way too aggressive but which really works for many. If you can swing it financially, it’s most convenient to have a primary pump plus portable and/or wearable backup options. There are also non-wearable portables that make it a little easier to pump on the go, as well as in-bra collection cups that you can use to avoid dangling bottles and exposed nips. It sounds like your friend is one of the lucky ones for whom a wearable pump is effective as a primary pump, which is amazing! It’s unfortunately not typical that it can be used in that way. Also I think my boobs kind of had to get used to each pump and since returning to work and using the stride a lot more my output with the stride has also gotten better! I think if I were an exclusive pumper I might actually go w the stride because I get similar output and it’s just so much more convenient.Unfortunately, there’s no way to know which pump you’ll respond best to, but the average woman responds better to the Spectra S1/S2 then to any of the wearables available. So convenient and quiet, I can walk around without anyone even noticing it! I also do get a good pump in but it takes longer (~30 min per pump) but it’s not too bad since i can pump while working easily. That being said, I LOVE the Elvie stride at work. And I always make sure to use the spectra at home so that my breasts get fully empty at least twice a day. It just empties better! I use the legendairy milk cups w the spectra if I want a littttle more portability around the house. Just to add if you have a lactation center nearby, sometimes they let you rent pumps as well.Īgree with everyone else that the spectra should be the primary pump if the lack of portability doesn’t hinder you TOO much. In retrospect I don't need the Spectra at all. ![]() I was lucky to be offered a Spectra from my cousin who ended up formula feeding, so I got the Elvie through insurance. But without it being so convenient I don't know if I would have lasted this long pumping. And it really needs to be charged very often to get the most power. ![]() I had to get one of the pumps replaced because of a high pitched noise. This is not to say I completely love the Elvie. I also have the Spectra S1 and I used them both for a bit, but ultimately the Elvie was so much more convenient and I didn't experience a problem with not getting as much milk supply from it as I've seen people on reddit say. I have the Elvie (regular, not stride) and it works fine for me as a primary. Listen, I constantly see people saying not to use the Elvie as a primary pump.
